About the Society

Welcome to Chichester Wine Society. The society’s aim is to bring together people who are enthusiastic about wine, with monthly tastings through much of the year plus a Christmas celebration.

No one needs extensive knowledge of wine to participate – interest and enthusiasm is what matters.

The society has been running for over 20 years and currently has around 100 members. The monthly tastings run from October to April, usually on the second Wednesday, and are themed for example, on a particular country, region or grape variety.

Presenters are wine educators, specialist retailers or members with specific wine experience, and usually, there are eight wines to taste, four white and four red.

The December event is different: a wine-tasting ‘Call My Bluff’ game, followed by a meal.

The focus of all the society’s events is on tasting wine, with no expectation that members will buy any of the wine features. But details of all wines, with price and where appropriate available discounts and delivery information will be provided, either at the tasting or by email afterwards.

Members are required to bring their own tasting glasses.

Meetings typically begin at 7.30 pm at:

The Assembly Room

The Council House

North Street, Chichester, PO19 1LQ
